Biography:

Katherine Schober is a German language expert, teacher, and the founder of the language education platform, “Germanology Unlocked”. She earned her Master’s degree in the German language through Bowling Green State University/University of Salzburg. She then spent three additional years in Austria, teaching English and translating German (with a focus on history).

Katherine Schober is best known for her approach to teaching German that emphasizes the importance of learning the language in context and understanding the culture and history of the German-speaking world. Her teaching style focuses on making the learning process fun, engaging, and interactive, and she has helped many students improve their German language skills through her courses, online resources, and one-on-one coaching.

Katherine Schober is a German-English genealogy speaker, author, and translator, specializing
in the old German handwriting. She is the author of “The Magic of German Church Records”
and “Tips and Tricks of Deciphering German Handwriting”, as well as the creator of the online
courses “Reading the Old German Handwriting” and “German for Genealogists”. Katherine lives
in Bend, Oregon with her Austrian husband and their one-year-old son, and can be reached via
